Treeblog: A DIY Boho Wedding

There's nothing like a beautiful wedding, where every detail is carefully planned to reflect the bride and groom. Tahnee and Aaron's wedding, held late last year in Dwellingup, Western Australia, takes it one step further to create a boho style wedding that is both relaxed and luxurious. Styled by Tahnee herself, their boho wedding is sure to inspire you with it's rustic location, unique details, vibrant colour scheme and DIY approach.

1. When and where were you married?
November last year, in Dwellingup in Western Australia. The venue was out at Nanga bush camp, at The Woodshed, which was exactly that - a massive wooden shed in the forrest. Nanga is such a beautiful place and it allows your guests to have the option of staying upstairs in the camping beds.

2. What was the overall concept for your wedding?
My mind is constantly off  dreamland , drumming up all sorts of creations in my minds eye. There's a lot of colour texture and patterns up in my head and I really wanted to express that in the styling. I'm allergic to anything overly matching so the overall concept was an eclectic mix of colour and a creative explosion!

3. What did you most enjoy about styling the wedding, and why?
Oh so much! I'm not even sure I can pick one thing. I'm a creative being, always drawing, painting, styling or creating something so to be able to decorate my own wedding was the ultimate. Nanga provided the perfect rustic blank canvas I needed to make it our own!

4. Where did you find inspiration for your wedding and styling?
For me, creative inspiration comes from so many places. It could be a conversation, a destination, nature, a dream, other artists. There's always a thousands ideas in my head it's usually just a matter of picking one, which is always my biggest challenge. As far as inspiration for the wedding, I found Hello May magazine, Pinterest, thelane.com and greenweddingshoes.com to be helpful in the beginning stages of planning.

5. How much planning went into the event itself?
A LOT. Because it was a complete DIY wedding there was quite a bit of planning in the lead up. The week before the wedding was pretty hectic to say the least. Even on the morning of the wedding Aaron and I were up at 5am cutting out name cards together! It was pretty funny actually!

6. If there was one thing you could go back and change, what would it be?
Hire someone to help you!! Because my imagination is so crazy I really set myself a pretty massive task. Even though I had family and friends helping me, I should have had another person that knew what my creative vision was so I could relax more on the day. Treeblog: A DIY Boho WeddingTreeblog: A DIY Boho WeddingTreeblog: A DIY Boho WeddingTreeblog: A DIY Boho WeddingTreeblog: A DIY Boho WeddingTreeblog: A DIY Boho Wedding

7. With the success of your own creative vision for your wedding, are you planning on styling other weddings?
I am indeed! I've styled parties and weddings since mine and it's an absolute dream! I couldn't part with any of the beautiful  furniture, rugs or decor from the wedding so instead of selling it I've started a prop hire and styling business called Brown Sugar Daisy and I'm absolutely loving it.

8. Do you have any advice for someone wanting to style their own wedding?
Don't make my mistake and take on too much! You want to have enough relaxation time with your bridesmaids. Try and do as much styling as you can the day before. I'd also say be true to yourself and your partners style , don't worry if others don't understand it yet - you'll thank yourself on the day. Get ideas from blogs, Pinterest, magazines and the like, but try not to go online too much, especially in the lead up to the actual event. It only confuses you since there's almost too many good ideas out there and it can be overwhelming. Just stick with your gut. Usually the first decision is the best one!
